My Journey: The Story So Far
I'm Trinh Xuan Tam, though most people I work with call me David. I'm a software engineer based in Paris, currently at Amazon, where I build the pricing systems that keep third-party sellers profitable across international marketplaces at a scale of billions of price updates a month. I got into tech as a kid who couldn't leave gadgets alone, always pulling things apart to see how they worked. That turned into a career spent building software that's genuinely useful, not just software that demos well. I care about the why behind a project as much as the how, because a clean system that solves the wrong problem still helps no one. I've worked across the stack, dropped into infrastructure when it needed doing, and led teams and projects end to end. What keeps me going is a hard problem and a good group of people to solve it with.

MANY ROLES, ONE FOCUS
Ask me which technology I specialize in and the honest answer is whatever the problem needs. I've operated at Amazon scale, led a team building a generative-AI platform, moved fast in startups, and freelanced on my own terms, picking up backend, frontend, mobile, and infrastructure along the way. That range runs across domains too. I've built e-commerce flows, contributed to edtech platforms, shipped a safety system for train drivers, and spent real time in applied AI with LLMs and retrieval. Every one of them taught me something I couldn't have picked up staying in a single lane, and it's why I'm comfortable being handed a problem in an area I've never touched.

Exploring code and cultures
I've written code in Prague, Brussels, and now Paris, and the lesson that stuck is that adapting to a new culture matters as much as knowing your stack. Working across countries has shown me how much diversity is worth in engineering. In teams that span languages and time zones the job is rarely only technical. I've had to bridge gaps, keep people aligned, and build a shared understanding that holds up both in the codebase and across the table. It has made me a sharper communicator and a more reliable teammate, and it's the part of the work I'd miss most if it were gone. What I enjoy most is taking a mix of ideas and turning them into something that actually runs. If you want someone who does well in international teams and cares about building practical, dependable software, I'm easy to reach.
